Forget about winter, spring, summer or fall. Here, we really only recognize one special time of year: mango season. In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPI) and the beloved king of fruit, Smorgasburg Fort Lauderdale has announced a mango edition of its Asian Street Food Market.
Known as America’s largest weekly open-air food market, Smorgasburg has recently found its permanent location in Broward, and has newly partnered with Cheryl Tiu of Cross Cultures to bring this special edition of the weekend festival, taking place on May 30 to 31.
Both days will serve as a celebration of AAPI food, culture and community through an expansive lineup of food vendors, live performances and interactive activities.

Food & Drink Highlights
More than 45 vendors will come together for the celebration, many of which will represent cuisines from across Asia and the Pacific Islands including Burmese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese and more. Among them are Ahmay’s Burmese Street Food, Chef Norlan, Island Tastes Florida, Julie’s Crochet and Kanto Asian Street Food.
Guests will also be able to choose from over 40 mango-forward dishes and drinks created exclusively for the market. Think mango sticky rice matcha, mango adobo wings and mango banana lumpia!
What’s more, a Mango Exchange activation will take place all weekend long at the bar, where one can bring in the fruit and exchange it for a complimentary drink while supplies last!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a true Smorgasburg affair without special programming. Here’s what to expect:
Saturday, May 30
Silent Karaoke: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Community Table: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Polynesian Dance Performances: 5 p.m. – 7p.m.
Sunday, May 31
Hong Kong-style Mahjong hosted by 888Mahjong

You can find the new Smorgasburg Fort Lauderdale at 536 NE 2nd Street in Fort Lauderdale’s Flagler Village. This special edition of the Asian Street Food Market is free and open to the public, and will open from noon to 10 p.m. on May 30, and from noon to 8 p.m. on May 31.
