TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida state parks offer free entry over Memorial Day weekend.
Families across Florida are taking advantage of free admission to state parks Memorial Day weekend, including at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park in Tallahassee.
Visitors said the free entry gave them a chance to explore the park for the first time and enjoy time outdoors with family.
“It’s been pretty peaceful, just able to enjoy nature,” Tyler Buehler said. “It turned out to be a nice little morning … and just a nice time to spend with the family.”

Lykah Buehler said their son especially enjoyed the visit.
“Charlie loves to look at flowers and everything, so it’s been great,” she said. “He’s been smiling and happy, so we’ve really enjoyed being out there, especially since it’s free.”
The free admission event is part of celebrations marking America’s 250th birthday. Many state parks highlight both Florida and U.S. history. Free entry continues through Monday.
