The man is in stable condition after being hit by a car while trying to get a turtle off the road in Seminole.
SEMINOLE, Fla. — A 74-year-old man in Seminole was hospitalized after he was hit by a car while trying to remove a turtle from the road, deputies in Pinellas County say.
It happened just before 9 a.m. Sunday around 80th Avenue North, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to investigators, Jake Gauthier, 37, was driving his pickup truck, heading west on 80th Avenue North, when Charles McFall, 74, stepped into the road to help the turtle. McFall was hit by Gauthier’s car and was thrown to the ground.
Deputies say McFall was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but PCSO says he is in stable condition. Gauthier did not get hurt during the incident.
PCSO added that an investigation about the crash is ongoing.
