Memorial Day is a chance to honor America’s fallen heroes, and there are several opportunities to do that across Northwest Florida.

NAS Pensacola will have a ceremony at Barrancas National Cemetery, hosted by the Gulf Coast Veterans Advocacy Council.

That starts at 9 a.m. Visitors that are 18 years old and up must be escorted by someone with a Department of Defense I.D. card.

Visitors will also have to go through a background screening at the Visitors Center at the main gate.

The city of Milton will host a ceremony at the community center on Byrom Street.

It starts at 10 a.m. and will feature local leaders, military personnel, and the Milton High School JROTC.

Veterans Tribute Tower Committee is hosting a ceremony at the American Legion Post 235 in Fort Walton Beach.

That event was moved indoors because of the weather and starts at 10 a.m.

The names of veterans who have passed since Memorial Day last year will be remembered. Guests will be asked to place small bouquets on the community wreath during the ceremony.

The city of Crestview will have its ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Wall near the courthouse. The event starts at 10 a.m.
