CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina baseball is looking to make another College World Series run.
That run must start at regionals, and the placement for the first stage of the college baseball playoffs was announced Monday during the NCAA Baseball Championship Selection Special.
Coastal Carolina (37-21) was selected for the Tallahassee Regional in Florida.
The other teams in the regional are Northern Illinois (35-17), St. John’s (33-24), and 10-seed Florida State (38-17), the regional host.
For the first game of the regional, Florida State will take on St. John’s Friday at 3 p.m.
Coastal Carolina plays Northern Illinois Friday at 8 p.m.
The regional is double-elimination, and the winner will advance to the super regionals.
Coastal Carolina reached the College World Series finals but lost to LSU in 2025.
That series, which the Tigers won in a 2-0 sweep, was not without controversy.
In the second and final game of the series, head coach Kevin Schnall and assistant coach Matt Schilling were ejected in the first inning after arguing a call.
It was the second time CCU made it to the College World Series finals, the first since 2016. CCU captured the title that year.
