TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee veterans met to honor their fallen this Memorial Day.
American Legion Saul-Bridges Post 13 hosted its annual Memorial Day service on Monday to commemorate those who have died in the line of duty.
Speakers at the event also honored each branch of the military and their living members.
Carolyn Freda King is the mother of a soldier who died in combat. She commented on the importance of honoring service members and their legacies.
“My message before my son even joined the military is that we never forget what happened, and of course what happened to me and my family, that we never forget, and we love and show compassion, and that our veterans get the resources that,” King said.
Leon County will place wreaths at the memorials of fallen soldiers to honor their service.
