An investigation is underway in Deerfield Beach on Tuesday after one person was killed and three others were hospitalized following a three-car crash, deputies said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, at around 1:45 p.m., deputies received reports of a crash involving three vehicles near the 4400 block of Northeast 3rd Avenue.
Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed three vehicles with heavy damage at the scene, including one that was flipped onto its roof with what appeared to be a body covered in a yellow tarp next to it.

One vehicle was nearby with heavy front-end damage while the third was up against a house. Debris was scattered across the roadway.
At the scene, investigators said one person was killed in the crash, and three others were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The deceased’s identity was not released.

Neighbors who heard the crash described the violent impact.
One man told NBC6 that his 73-year-old roommate was involved in the collision and was transported to the hospital, but was expected to be OK.
Authorities have not confirmed the ages of those involved in the crash.
Another nearby resident said the sound of the crash was unlike anything he had heard before. He also said that his young nephew walks along the road, and is now extremely concerned.
Northeast Third Avenue, between Northeast 48th Street and 43rd, has since been shut down.
