The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said while the vehicle was being repossessed, the owner intervened and an altercation started.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A tow truck driver was shot and killed in Jacksonville Tuesday night while repossessing a vehicle, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO said patrol officers responded to the shooting, which happened in the 600 block of East 21st Street, around 10 p.m.
When they arrived, JSO Sgt. Catir said officers found the tow truck driver suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics then arrived to the scene, as the driver was taken to a local hospital where he reportedly died.

Based on the preliminary investigation, Catir said the tow truck driver was in the process of repossessing a vehicle when the owner intervened and an altercation started.
During the altercation, investigators say an unknown male shot the tow truck driver and left the scene.
JSO said detectives spoke to witnesses and looked for surveillance video.
