CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK)—The city has released a full breakdown of costs for rebuilding the Yacht Club, which was decimated by Hurricane Ian.

WINK News anchor Emma Heaton requested information from the city last week. The city provided answers this morning during a Committee of the Whole meeting.
The city previously estimated the total cost for the Yacht Club project at about $225 million. However, because the council has not made a final decision on the project’s scope or approach, there is no confirmed cost. The presentation said the remaining cost of the project is $164 million.

Each of the Yacht Club’s new amenities will be built in phases, with the cost listed for each phase. The parking garage that will eventually be built will cost $38 million.
The Yacht Club’s community center will cost roughly $45 million when it’s built. Some of the other amenities for the Yacht Club include new floating and fixed docks for $7 million, beach restrooms for $4 million and a resort-style pool for $11 million.
The timing of building these amenities still needs to be figured out. City staff is going to recommend to council that they should first have the fuel system, tanks, utilities and beach amenities built, totaling $35 million.

WINK News spoke with Yacht Club beachgoers who are hoping the new improvements are worth the price tag.
“I was a little surprised. I thought, oh my gosh, that’s a lot of money,” Terri Kowalski of Cape Coral said. “Hopefully, that’s enough to do what we need. We’re not asking for the Taj Mahal, just ladies’ bathrooms and parking spots. They already had good food and the best atmosphere on the planet.”
The Committee of the Whole meeting will begin on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
