15-year-old driver loses control of car, crashes into St. Pete home and lands on top of parked car

Troopers said the 15-year-old driver did not have a license.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A 15-year-old was hospitalized after crashing a Dodge Durango into a home Tuesday night in St. Petersburg.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the teen driver was traveling north on South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle near Hall Street. 

The SUV left the roadway, striking multiple traffic control devices and utility fixtures before crashing into a home. FHP said the residents were home at the time but were not hurt.

The vehicle collided with the house and a parked car. Photos show the car on top of another car that was parked at the house. 

The teen was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

FHP said the 15-year-old did not have a license and is facing multiple charges, including reckless driving, no valid driver’s license, unregistered vehicle and no insurance. 

The investigation is ongoing.
