The Jacksonville Police Department has arrested a man suspected of the shooting that killed a six-year-old on May 17.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Jacksonville Police Department (JPD) has arrested a man in connection with a shooting that happened on May 17, which killed a six-year-old child.

Wednesday at 6:58 p.m., JPD took 21-year-old Artavius Johnson into custody.

Johnson was identified as a suspect on May 19 after police responded to a call on the Sunday before for reports of “shots fired.”

On arrival, officers found six-year-old A’mir Houston in a vehicle that had been struck with multiple bullet holes.

A’mir was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
