BALTIMORE, MD. (WWSB) – Over a stretch of 30 days, the Tampa Bay Rays have been one of, if not the hottest team in all of baseball. However, that hot streak has cooled in recent days.
Since April 22nd, Tampa Bay had rolled out 22 wins in a span of 26 games. They had the best record in the American League, leapfrogging AL East rival New York to the forefront of the division.
Since this past Sunday in the Bronx, however, the Rays have hit a snag.
Tampa Bay is currently on a three-game losing streak, with a loss on Sunday at Yankee Stadium, and then two straight losses to the Orioles at Camden Yards.
Tonight Tampa looks to bounce back in their series finale against the Orioles.
Rays’ Manager Kevin Cash spoke this week after Tuesday’s marathon 9-7 loss to Baltimore in 13 innings on the road.
“I’m proud of the guys with how they went about that game,” Cash said.
“There was a lot of back and forth. Both teams did everything they could to win. We just came up on the short end of the stick,” he added.
Tampa Bay currently has a two-and-a-half game lead over New York in the AL East division standings.
Gametime in Camden Yards is set for 6:35 p.m.
