PORT ST. LUCIE ── Stars and Stripes Park, a family-friendly 26.5-acre public park, will celebrate its grand opening June 4.
The grand opening ceremony and celebration, hosted by the City of Port St. Lucie and Mattamy Homes USA, will include food vendors, a DJ, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and interactive activities throughout the park’s “Celestial Space.”
The celebration will also include a demonstration of the Port St. Lucie Police Department’s robotic dog technology. Nighttime lighting displays will encourage guests to explore the park after sunset as the space transforms through color, projection lighting and illuminated installations.
“Stars and Stripes Park is a shining example of what makes Port St. Lucie special. We are a community that honors service, values connection and continually invests in places where families can come together,” said Port St. Lucie Mayor Shannon Martin in a press release.
Under construction for two years, Stars and Stripes Park, located at 12441 Southwest Village Parkway, features themed art installations that blend science, history and patriotism.
Its centerpiece is a large waving flag sculpture paired with illuminated stars with engraved quotes designed to honor veterans and first responders.
The celestial space includes a solar‑system–inspired installation featuring a sundial surrounded by gyroscopic metal rings and colorful translucent panels that shift as the sun moves. Planet‑themed markers along the pathways illustrate the scale and distance between planetary orbits.
