Lakewood Park residents spoke loudly and clearly. Families voiced concerns. Neighbors asked for transparency. Many questioned why an industrial-style 150-foot cell tower should be placed in the middle of a residential community surrounded by homes.
Yet despite months of opposition, the Lakewood Park POA Board of Directors has now signed a land lease agreement with Dynamic Towers to move forward with the proposed tower at Ocala Avenue and Deleon Avenue.
This comes after the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners previously rejected the same project on the county park off Kings Highway.
If county leaders did not believe that location was appropriate, why are Lakewood Park residents now being asked to accept it in the center of their own neighborhood?
The issue is bigger than one tower. It is about process, accountability, and respect for the people who live here. Residents deserve clear financial projections, full disclosure of lease terms, independent analysis of alternatives, and a real voice before permanent decisions are made that could impact nearby homes, property values, neighborhood character, and quality of life for decades.
Many in the community feel ignored. Instead of collaboration, there has been frustration. Instead of transparency, there have been questions left unanswered.
