An investigation into a Miami East Local Schools staff member accused of misconduct has been turned over to the prosecutor.

On Thursday, May 28, Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak confirmed detectives completed their investigation last week and handed the case file over to the municipal prosecutor for review.

The sheriff’s office is waiting for a response.

Duchak previously said the sheriff’s office received allegations of misconduct involving a Miami East staff member on Monday, March 30.

Details about the allegations were not clear, but WHIO-TV reported a parent complained to the Miami East Board of Education that an employee sexually assaulted her daughter and the board had not taken action.

Miami East Local Schools Board of Education said they are investigating the allegations.

“The health, safety, and well-being of our students, staff and broader community remain our top priority,” read a statement from the board. “We are aware of the concerns that have been raised and are conducting a thorough investigation of the matter.”
