• I’m ticked off at the people who leave shopping carts in the parking lot because they are too lazy or too self-centered to put the carts in a nearby bin or return them to the store.
• People not flushing toilets in public bathrooms … disgusting! These are manual toilets, too. No wonder there are norovirus outbreaks! And do people wash their hands anymore?
• I’m ticked off that I’m now retired and can travel, hotels have changed the soap in showers from bars to pump dispensers. The problem I have is that the labels for “bath wash” and “shampoo” are so small that I need to get my reading glasses to get it sorted. Who is the genius that picked the small print?
• Ticked off might be overstated, but I’m incredulous at how the repair of a small bridge on Bates Road could take well over six months.
• It ticks me off when people say “It goes without saying,” and then say it.
The flip side
• Cheers to the two-minute short film “Best Friends” that is edited as an ad for Publix. It’s by Mark Molloy and shows some puppet dogs — no AI — baking a pie for their beleaguered postal delivery carrier, whom they’ve mistreated. Are you so cynical you can’t enjoy some whimsy? The full film is online and even more fun.
• Enjoyed reading about Jayvon Funnye. It’s refreshing to see a true student-athlete. Wish him success this coming football year and at Columbia. I know his parents are extremely proud.
