St. Pete Pride officially kicked off Pride Month on Friday with its annual Kickoff Party, bringing together community members, local organizations, entertainers, and supporters for an evening of celebration on St. Petersburg’s Central Avenue. WMNF’s Big Gay Radio Show host Chris Gorman and Voice-Over artist Sean Kelly were in attendance to celebrate the kickoff and document the event.

The event ran from 5-10 p.m. and marked the beginning of a month packed with Pride events throughout St. Petersburg. Attendees spent the evening catching up with friends, meeting new people, enjoying performances, and celebrating the start of Pride season.

Throughout the street, community organizations and local businesses connected with attendees while music and entertainment kept the energy going throughout the evening. The event drew a diverse crowd, including longtime Pride supporters, first-time attendees, and visitors looking to take part in one of the region’s largest LGBTQIA+ celebrations.

The Kickoff Party has become an annual tradition for St. Pete Pride, offering an opportunity for the community to gather before June’s larger events begin. This year’s Pride season comes as St. Pete Pride prepares for another month of programming, including family-friendly events, community gatherings, performances, and the organization’s signature parade and street festival.
