May 30, 2026 – Pinellas County leaders and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers signed an amendment Friday to the  Project Cooperation Agreement, which provides “new avenues” for the county government to receive federal beach nourishment funding. According to a prepared statement, the amendment means that “beach nourishment easements no longer need to be permanent” and “provisions for public access and use are no longer required in beach nourishment easements.” To learn more, visit this link.
