OBITUARY
ASHBY/ PORT ST. LUCIE, FLORIDA: Ritva Margit (Rantala) LeMieur, 86, a former longtime Ashby resident, died Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Palms at St. Lucie West, Port St. Lucie, FL. Ritva was born in Ahtari, Finland, September 29, 1939, the daughter of Armas and Toini Rantala and resided over 40 years in Ashby before moving to Port St. Lucie in 2002. For nineteen years, Ritva worked as a loan officer at Workers Credit Union in Fitchburg before retiring in 1999.
While residing in Port St. Lucia, Ritva belonged to the Women’s Club; she also enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bocci league. She was a former member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fitchburg. She leaves her husband of 68 years, Jack A. LeMieur; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa M. and Robert King of Ashburnham, Cathy A. and James McCarthy of Ashby; son-in-law Shawn Connor of Hookset; eight grandchildren, Jonathan King, Ryan Connor, Allison Curran, Keith McCarthy, Brandon King, Kyle Connor, Troy Connor and Adam McCarthy. She also leaves 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kim Connor, in February 2007.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1200 John Fitch Highway, Fitchburg. Interment will follow at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
