Jacksonville’s Hy-Vee and other Hy-Vee stores in central Illinois are raising funds for a veterans Honor Flight later this year.
Honor Flights are trips during which military veterans are flown to Washington, D.C., to visit the capital’s monuments and Arlington National Cemetery. People can buy $10 fundraising cards from the Jacksonville Hy-Vee or make a donation at checkout to benefit the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
The Nov. 17 trip out of Peoria will involve about 75 military veterans.
“Hy-Vee is honored to help provide a meaningful day for the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country,” said Zach Jones, assistant vice president of operations for the Quad Cities’ Hy-Vee stores. “We’ve seen how impactful these flights are for our veterans and we thank our customers in advance for giving generously to this important cause.”
Other Hy-Vee stores participating in the fundraising effort are in Bloomington, Canton, Galesburg, Macomb, Peoria and Peru. This is the second year the chain has raised funds for an Honor Flight.
