The UFL’s Orlando Storm are “being forced to play” a home playoff game next weekend “nearly 1,000 miles from” their home of Inter&Co Stadium, according to J.C. Carnahan of the ORLANDO BUSINESS JOURNAL. The postseason game will take place at 3pm ET on June 7 at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus. The league in a release said, “Unfortunately, Inter&Co Stadium is unavailable on that date due to prior commitments connected to hosting an international soccer match.” The England men’s national soccer team will face Costa Rica at Inter&Co Stadium at 4pm ET on June 10. The UFL said that “additional undisclosed venues were also evaluated but were not valid options ‘due to broadcast requirements and operational and logistical constraints.’” The Storm’s final home game at Inter&Co Stadium drew an announced crowd of 10,954, the most since 11,127 were on hand for the inaugural game of the season (ORLANDO BUSINESS JOURNAL, 5/29). UFL co-owner Mike Repole in a post on X wrote, “We at @TheUFL owe you an apology. As an owner, I take full responsibility and accountability.” Repole: “No excuses. We came up short and let our friends down. … Thank you for your support and for holding us accountable” (X, 5/30).
