The Junior Orange Bowl’s Creative Writing Competition continues to encourage and celebrate the talents of young writers throughout South Florida, and this year’s awards ceremony was especially inspiring.
Held May 8 at Books & Books in Coral Gables, the evening recognized outstanding eighth-grade students whose creativity and storytelling skills earned top honors.
Adding to the excitement was special guest speaker Dr. Mireya Mayor, the renowned National Geographic explorer, primatologist, anthropologist, and researcher. Her address captivated the audience and served as an inspiration not only for aspiring writers and journalists, but also for students interested in science, exploration, and adventure.
This year’s talented winners are first place, Noah Moncarz; second place, Carolina Bergesio, and third place, Alexandra Morfova.
Programs like this continue to highlight the incredible talent and potential of South Florida’s youth while encouraging the next generation of writers, storytellers, and leaders.
