Miami music project is renewing its collaboration with Levi Strauss & Co. For a second consecutive year, partnering in the company’s newest community initiative, the Levi’s Wear Longer Project.

United by the mission of providing youth with the tools and confidence needed to succeed in life, the nonprofit celebrated its second year of collaboration with the global leader in denim by participating in the launch of the first wear longer project workshop in Miami.

The Levi’s Wear Longer Project empowers the next generation to take fashion into their own hands by teaching basic clothing repair and customization skills. Building on LS&Co.’s legacy of crafting clothing designed to last a lifetime, the Wear Longer Project aims to reduce waste by repairing, refreshing, and reimagining their clothes.

In partnership with Discovery Education, the Levi’s Wear Longer Project teaches high school students skills like altering a hem or sewing a custom patch through in-person workshops, as well as through a free digital and classroom-based learning platform. The company’s employees also serve as program ambassadors within their local communities, further expanding the initiative’s reach and impact.

“The Wear Longer Project brings together our commitments to supporting the communities where we operate and to creating quality clothing that is built to last,” said Alexis Bechtol, director of community affairs at Levi Strauss & Co. “Our research shows that 64 percent of Gen Z consumers search for items secondhand before buying new, driven by sustainability, creativity, and individuality, yet many lack the basic repair skills that were once more commonly taught. Through collaborations with groups like the Miami Music Project, we’re helping bridge that gap by equipping young people with practical tools and the confidence to fully express themselves and thrive in life.”

Miami Music Project students participated in the city’s first Wear Longer Project workshop to learn to repair and refresh their clothes at the Levi’s store in Aventura Mall. Miami Music Project also participated in the presentation of the Levi’s Wear Longer Project training for more than 320 Levi’s employees, serving as an example of community impact. The Miami Music Project String Quartet closed the training with a performance at the InterContinental Hotel by IHG.

“Our collaboration with Levi’s on the Wear Longer Project is a natural extension of our mission of empowering young people with skills that build confidence, creativity, and individuality,” said Anna Klimala, president and CEO of Miami Music Project. “This program goes beyond clothing repair; it’s about providing students with practical skills to channel self-expression and foster sustainability.

“What makes this collaboration especially powerful is that it’s rooted in community, bringing together education, creativity, and purpose in a way that resonates with Miami youth. We’re excited to work with Levi’s on this inaugural activation here in Miami and see the potential for this partnership to grow and reach even more students in the future,” Klimala added.
