After the June cap space was cleared, then came the signings in the rookie class for the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins signed 10 of their 13 draft picks, the team announced Tuesday evening, after receiving $21.098 million in cap space from the February and March releases of edge defender Bradley Chubb and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with a post-June 1 designation.
Miami’s rookies signed, with draft round: linebacker Jacob Rodriguez (2nd), wide receiver Caleb Douglas (3rd), tight end Will Kacmarek (3rd), wide receiver Chris Bell (3rd), linebacker/edge defender Trey Moore (4th), linebacker Kyle Louis (4th), safety Michael Taaffe (5th), wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. (5th), guard DJ Campbell (6th) and edge defender Max Llewellyn (7th).
That leaves the Dolphins’ two first-round picks, offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor and cornerback Chris Johnson, and fifth-round-draft tight end Seydou Traore as the three remaining unsigned picks.
The Dolphins were expected to immediately sign members of their rookie class once the cap relief from their post-June 1 cuts hit their books.
NFL rookie contracts generally abide by the league’s rookie wage scale, with essentially a designated price for each pick.
The total value of the four-year rookie deals for the 10 signed players are as follows: Rodriguez (No. 43) $11,606,940; Douglas (75) $7,168,524; Kacmarek (87) $6,849,498; Bell (94) $6,771130; Moore (130) $5,287,378; Louis (138) $5,034,050; Taaffe (158) $4,740,821; Coleman (177) $4,624,478; Campbell (200) $4,517,649; Llewellyn (238) $4,378,563.
The slot value for Proctor, the No. 12 pick, is $26,120,482. For Johnson, drafted 27th, it’s $19,040,710. Traore, at No. 180, has his at $4,624,478.
On top of the rookie class, Miami added an outside free agent earlier Tuesday, wide receiver Jalen Reagor, a former first-round pick in 2020 of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Dolphins started their three-day mandatory minicamp Tuesday and have ensuing practices Wednesday and Thursday.
