Painter David Larson Evans resides in St. Pete and works from a remote studio in Pasco County. He is interested in, not only the perfect execution of a painting, but what is being said and what is not being said. From the Cave Paintings in France to the modern Surrealist works there are stories being told, but we are often left with a mystery. Many works from the past still have riddles to solve.
Evans likes the permanence of oil paints. He gets a certain satisfaction in thinking that in 300 years someone will pick up a small work of his and inquire, “Who is this David Larson Evans?” He says, “I am still learning, a constant student whose intention is to paint something of interest, a mystery perhaps?”
You can see “Something of a Mystery” during the month of February. The opening reception takes place during St. Pete’s Second Saturday Art Walk and features music by Leon and Friends. This event is produced with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, Creative Pinellas and the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners.
