Newly released video shows a shootout between Miami-Dade sheriff’s deputies and a man who they say shot a woman inside a west Miami-Dade apartment in August.

On Aug. 26, Javier Jara shot Yudaisy Salgueiro in the chest, investigators said. A frantic 911 caller described what he heard.

“Somebody with a gun wants to kill his wife,” the caller said. “Oh my God, he’s shooting three times, he’s shooting three, four times.”

Investigators said a neighbor then recorded Jara’s erratic behavior, including the moment he dove headfirst through an apartment window.

A woman was critically injured and a gunman is dead after an exchange of gunfire with deputies Tuesday inside a West Miami-Dade apartment building, authorities said. NBC6’s Jamie Guirola reports

The woman’s father told them Jara pointed the gun at him and pulled the trigger, but the gun malfunctioned, according to investigators.

When deputies showed up, they said they found Jara inside his apartment and that he was pointing a gun at them. That’s when deputies and Jara started shooting at each other.

“Let me see your hands, let me see your hands,” deputies are heard yelling.

SWAT officers later found Jara dead inside the apartment.

Salgueiro, whose family members said is Jara’s ex, survived.

Miami-Dade’s Sheriff said she wants the public to see what happened and wants to “be transparent with our community.”
