Lee County commissioners approve $2.9 million to complete Hancock Bridge Parkway sidewalk project

Lee County Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a contract that will help complete a sidewalk project along Hancock Bridge Parkway in Cape Coral.

The project will span from US-41 in North Fort Myers to Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral.

According to Lee County, the contract approved work from Hunter Boulevard to 1,000 feet east of Orange Grove Boulevard. This will include:

Construction of a 6-foot-wide sidewalkWater main installationNew fire hydrantsMinor road work with milling, paving and pavement markingsDrainage improvementsIrrigation control relocationPedestrian safety upgradesAluminum guiderails

The $2.9 million contract was awarded to Fort Myers-based Andrew Site Work LLC. Construction is expected to begin in August and take 14 months to complete, the county said.
