TAMPA, Fla. (WINK)— The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double stabbing and a separate death investigation in Tampa that detectives believe are connected.
HCSO’s 911 Dispatch Center said they received a call at 4:26 a.m. on Wednesday from a man reporting that he and another individual had been stabbed at an apartment complex on North 46th Street. Both victims are in stable condition.
The suspect and one of the victims are students at the University of South Florida, according to the sheriff’s office. All individuals involved have been identified and accounted for.
HCSO announced it is conducting a separate death investigation at 3600 East Fletcher Avenue in Tampa. Detectives believe the stabbing suspect is the deceased individual involved in the death investigation.
The next-of-kin notification is still pending. The name of the deceased will be released once notification has been made.
The University of South Florida Police Department confirmed it is coordinating with HCSO, the lead agency on the investigation. Officers said the suspect and one of the victims are USF students and roommates at an off-campus apartment.
The other victim is not affiliated with the university, USFPD said. There is no ongoing threat to the USF community. The investigation remains active.
