Geno Auriemma confirmed Wednesday night after the UConn Coaches Road Show in Southington that the Huskies’ expected game at Florida State next season has been postponed.
“They wanted to push it off,” said Auriemma. “So, not sure when it’s going to be rescheduled for.”
The Huskies were expected to conclude their two-game, home-and-home series with the Seminoles next season in Tallahassee after beginning the series this past year when they defeated FSU, 99-67, in Storrs. The trip to Florida would have marked the Huskies’ third straight season playing in the Sunshine State after winning the 2025 national championship in Tampa and defeating South Florida, 85-51, also in Tampa this past season.
As of now, there’s no rescheduled date for the series finale. If UConn makes the trip in the 2027-28 season, it would likely reunite with former Husky forward Ice Brady. Brady committed to FSU after entering the transfer portal this offseason. The former Husky is sitting out the 2026-27 season, however, as she continues to recover from season-ending knee surgery.
Ten of UConn’s 2026-27 nonconference opponents have been announced, with five of those games officially scheduled. UConn has room to add two more non-league opponents now with FSU off its schedule. In 2025, the NCAA announced expansion of the college basketball regular season to 32 games starting with the 2026-27 season. With the Big East’s 20-game conference schedule, UConn has up to 12 nonconference slots.
The Huskies have yet to announce official dates for their games against Notre Dame (away), Louisville (away), Ohio State (away), LSU (neutral-site in Nashville) and Tennessee (home). The Huskies will conclude their current series with Notre Dame, Louisville and Ohio State next season, while their game against Tennessee kicks off a new series with their longtime rivals. UConn’s game at Louisville was originally scheduled for the 2024-25 season, but it was postponed until this upcoming year after the schools faced off in back-to-back neutral site events the last two seasons (2024-25: Women’s Champions Classic in Brooklyn and 2025-26: Armed Forces Classic in Annapolis).
UConn begins a new two-game, home-and-home series with Michigan and Iowa next season. The Huskies are expected to conclude each series during the 2027-28 season by hosting the Wolverines in Connecticut and playing the Hawkeyes in Iowa City.
UConn’s upcoming game against Duke begins a new, three-game series with the Blue Devils. The Huskies will play at Duke in 2027-28 for Sarah Strong’s senior homecoming, before concluding the series by hosting the Blue Devils in 2028-29.
