Suspect in Tampa double stabbing identified as 21-year-old found dead

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The person found dead in a death investigation connected to a Tampa double stabbing has been identified as Hansel Pearson, 21, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

HCSO previously said the suspect in the double stabbing was believed to be the person found dead at 3600 East Fletcher Avenue in Tampa.

In an update Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said Pearson and one of the stabbing victims were roommates at an apartment complex on North 46th Street.

Deputies began investigating the double stabbing early Wednesday morning after HCSO’s 911 Dispatch Center received a call at 4:26 a.m. from a man who said he and another person had been stabbed.

Both victims are in stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

HCSO previously said all individuals involved had been identified and accounted for. The agency also said the suspect and one of the victims are students at the University of South Florida.

The investigation remains active. HCSO said any additional updates will come from its Public Affairs Office.
