A suspicious device on railroad tracks in Jacksonville created some tense moments Thursday afternoon until officials were able to confirm it was not a danger.
Jacksonville police responded to the railroad overpass at North Westgate Avenue near West Walnut Street about 3:30 p.m. Thursday for what they said was “originally described as an explosive device.”
An area around the site was closed off temporarily and evacuated, according to a police report.
The device was determined to be part of the railroad tracks, according to police.
The area has since been reopened.
