Stars and Stripes Park opens in Port St. Lucie with veteran tributes

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A new park has opened in Port St. Lucie that goes beyond traditional recreation, offering 26 acres of themed art, interactive spaces and tributes to veterans and first responders at 12441 Southwest Village Parkway.

Stars and Stripes Park also features its “Celestial Space,” where visitors can enjoy interactive installations and family-friendly attractions, along with a ribbon-cutting celebration that included live DJ music, food vendors and entertainment.

The opening event also featured a robotic dog technology demonstration from the Port St. Lucie Police Department.

CBS12 News spoke with Dan Grosswald, part of the Mattamy Homes team, and Scott Samples, the PIO for the city, ahead of the grand opening.

The grand opening was from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday.
