JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County — A Jacksonville man is facing multiple charges after warrants state he assaulted two Jacksonville Police Department officers who were responding to a domestic disturbance.

According to arrest records, 36-year-old Jovon Len Council was arrested by the Jacksonville Police Department on June 5 and charged with two counts of assault on a government official, two counts of communicating threats and two counts of resisting a public officer.

Investigators say the incident happened while officers were attempting to investigate a domestic disturbance.

According to charging documents, Council allegedly kicked an officer in the face, groin and chest while the officer was performing his duties. He is also accused of headbutting a separate officer in the head during the same incident.

Authorities further allege that Council threatened both officers. Arrest records state he told both officers that he would “beat” them.

Council was taken to the Onslow County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

Court records show his first appearance is scheduled for June 5.
