GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Two more players committed Friday to Jon Sumrall’s increasingly explosive 2027 recruiting class, and the Gators now hold the most blue-chip commitments in the nation.
That’s thanks in part to four-star defensive lineman Cahron Wheeler, who announced his decision in an Instagram post. The 6-foot-5 Maryland native chose Florida over Tennessee, Clemson and Auburn. According to 247Sports, Wheeler is the nation’s No. 13 defensive lineman and the No. 4 recruit in Maryland.
A few hours later, athlete Jamarion Johnson also announced he will attend the University of Florida. The Georgia native can play in the secondary or at wide receiver, but he’s more likely to line up at defensive back. He picked Florida over rival Florida State.
