STUART, Fla (CBS12) — A massive mural unveiled Saturday in Stuart is being touted by organizers as the largest wall mural created by a single artist in Florida and one of the largest of its kind in the United States.
The mural, located at H2Ocean’s facility along Florida’s Turnpike, spans approximately 36,000 square feet and was created by internationally known mural artist Jeks One. Organizers said the artwork stretches roughly 1,000 feet wide and 36 feet tall and was completed using more than 2,000 cans of spray paint.
The unveiling coincided with the announcement of what organizers say will be the first National Ecosystems Awareness Day, set for June 22. The initiative is aimed at promoting environmental stewardship and raising awareness about the importance of protecting ecosystems, including oceans, wetlands, forests, coral reefs, grasslands and mountains.

A formal proclamation was scheduled to be read during Saturday’s event by U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, who joined local leaders, first responders and community members for the unveiling ceremony.
The mural’s message focuses on the role healthy ecosystems play in supporting life on Earth. Organizers said the highly visible artwork, facing Florida’s Turnpike, is intended to serve as a lasting reminder of environmental conservation efforts.
Several local and regional officials attended the event, including representatives from the Martin County and St. Lucie County sheriff’s offices, local fire rescue agencies, elected officials and environmental organizations.
The ceremony took place at H2Ocean’s headquarters in Stuart and ran from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Organizers hope the mural and annual awareness day will inspire residents and visitors alike to take an active role in protecting natural resources and preserving ecosystems for future generations.
