The construction industry will do its part to support U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody in the General Election.
The Florida Home Builders Association on Monday is announcing its endorsement of the Plant City Republican when she stands for election this election cycle.
“I am honored to earn the endorsement of the Florida Home Builders Association – an organization that represents the men and women who quite literally build the American Dream for Florida families,” Moody said.
“As your Senator, I have championed housing reform and fought to lower costs for Florida families. I look forward to continuing to work with them to keep Florida building.”
Moody was appointed to the U.S. Senate last year by Gov. Ron DeSantis to fill a seat vacated when Marco Rubio was confirmed as Secretary of State. She is still running this year, and a November election will determine who serves the last two years of a six-year Senate term.
While this year marks the first time Moody has formally run for the Senate seat, she has twice won statewide elections for Florida Attorney General, getting more votes than any candidate on the Florida ballot in both 2018 and 2022.
The Florida Home Builders Association endorsed her when she ran for that Cabinet post as well, both when she first ran and when she sought re-election.
Through March this year, Moody had raised $8.2 million to run her race. While she faces three other Republicans in the GOP Primary this year, her closest competitor as of the end of March has reported raising less than $3,400.
She most likely will face Democrat Alex Vindman, but he faces his own Democratic Primary against Angie Nixon. Through the first quarter, Vindman had raised about $8.2 million, and Nixon had reported $294,000. Primaries will determine the nominees for the major parties in August.
