South Tampa has a new star. Ivry., a family-owned espresso and flatbread cafe, quietly opened in May at 2307 S Dale Mabry, and our team is hooked after one visit.
While the cafe is intentionally laid-back, it hasn’t stopped Ivry. from popping up all over social media in the weeks since opening, thanks to its beautiful drinks, drool-worthy pastries, and flatbreads baked to order. We had our first visit last week and came away highly impressed.
The Middle Eastern-inspired cafe is true to the culture, creating a space that’s comfortable and welcoming at all hours. It’s the kind of place where it’s easy to linger, and thanks to the variety in the menu, you can stick around for multiple meals, if you feel so inclined.
The coffee and matcha drinks have garnered early fame, and we saw why when we tried the Tiramisu Latte, Vanilla Latte, and Strawberry Matcha Latte. The Pistachio Latte is a house specialty, and they also have an excellent menu of refreshers and tea. For traditionalists, you can always get fresh-ground espresso or a nice cold brew.
However, owners say it’s the flatbreads they are most proud of. The flatbreads are served in the Middle Eastern fashion, and while there are some similarities to pizza (baked dough with toppings), we’d encourage you to think of it as something different entirely. Their custom cheese blend is the house pick, while the za’atar flatbread will immediately catch the attention of anyone who has had a za’atar flatbread before. Each flatbread is baked to-order and served straight from the oven to your table.
Ivry. is run by Areej and Jareer, who created the cafe as a space for their family, “somewhere their three kids could grow up around.” The South Tampa space is awash in natural light thanks to its big windows, creating the welcoming feeling they wanted. As they explain it, the calm, neutral space is pulled straight from their own home. “A spot to work, study, meet a friend, or just sit for a while.”
