Armed burglary suspect arrested after search in Indian River EstatesDeputies say 19-year-old entered home, assaulted woman and fled before K-9 and drone teams located him nearby | St. Lucie County

FORT PIERCE – A 19-year-old man faces burglary, aggravated stalking and fraud charges after being arrested in Indian River Estates on June 10 by St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputies, according to a sheriff’s office Facebook posting.

At about 5:45 a.m., on June 10, patrol deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress in the 5200 block of Silver Oak Drive within the Indian River Estates community of Fort Pierce.

Investigation revealed that Kalani Gordon, 19, allegedly unlawfully entered a home and battered a woman before fleeing the area on foot, according to the Facebook posting.

With the assistance of K9 and drone units, deputies searched the area and found a shotgun in a vacant lot across the street from the residence, according to the Facebook posting.

Deputies subsequently found Gordon at a nearby business, where he was taken into custody.

Gordon was charged with:

• Aggravated stalking – follow, harass, cyberstalk and make a credible threat to a person;

• Burglary with assault or battery;

• Burglary of a dwelling while armed;

• Fraud and abuse – unauthorized access to a computer, computer system or electronic device;

• Armed trespassing in a structure or conveyance;

• Resisting an officer without violence.

Gordon remained in the St. Lucie County Jail as of June 11 on a $175,500 bond on those charges

Investigators have determined this to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community, according to the Facebook posting. It is not clear what Gordon’s relationship to the woman is.

“This arrest is a direct result of the swift and coordinated response by our Patrol Operations Bureau, K-9 Unit, and Drone Unit,” said Sheriff Richard Del Toro in the Facebook posting. “Their determination and teamwork allowed us to quickly locate and safely take a dangerous individual into custody without incident. Incidents involving violence and firearms are taken very seriously, and I am proud of the outstanding work displayed by our deputies in bringing this situation to a safe resolution while protecting our community.”
