The crash happened in the area of Northwest 23rd Avenue at Northwest 19th Street near Rock Island Elementary School and Arthur Ashe Middle School.
According to an arrest affidavit, Miller was driving a 2021 Dodge Challenger northbound on Northwest 23rd Avenue when he crossed over the southbound lanes and went up onto the sidewalk and struck two pedestrians.
He then continued and struck two vehicles before coming to a stop, the affidavit said.
One of the pedestrians, whose name was redacted from the report, died from their injuries.
The area where the crash happened was a school zone with a 15 mph speed limit, but Miller was going about 22 to 36 mph and was driving “in a reckless manner with no regard for other persons and/or property,” the affidavit said.
Miller was booked into jail, and being held on a $50,000 bond Tuesday, records showed.
