ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla (CBS12) — Two Fort Pierce residents were arrested after a welfare check found an elderly person living in what investigators described as horrific and unsanitary conditions, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
Prolancia Perry, 31, and Giovany Perry, 27, were arrested and charged with elderly neglect, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities said both were identified as caregivers responsible for the victim’s care.
The investigation began June 12 after concerned citizens met with detectives and reported that they believed an elderly individual was being neglected by caregivers.
Deputies with the Patrol Operations Bureau and detective corporals with the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the residence to conduct a welfare check.
When deputies and detectives arrived, they made contact with the elderly victim and found conditions that raised immediate concerns for the person’s health and well-being, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators said the victim was found covered in feces inside a home containing dog urine and feces, soiled diapers and an overflowing toilet.

The sheriff’s office described the home as “deplorable” and said the conditions posed a significant health risk to the victim.
The victim was taken by the St. Lucie County Fire District to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
