SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — A Jacksonville chiropractor was sentenced to a year in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to defrauding insurance companies of almost $250,000.
Prosecutors announced that 56-year-old Sean Rondeau was sentenced on Wednesday. During his sentencing hearing, they presented evidence that he submitted more than 2,000 fraudulent claims and that, after learning he was under investigation, he leveraged his relationship with clients to get them to sign false documents in an attempt to hide what he had done.

This happened, prosecutors added, after Rondeau was caught committing fraud more than a decade ago.
A grand jury returned an indictment of nine counts against Rondeau in August of 2024, accusing him of healthcare fraud, mail fraud and wire fraud. He pleaded guilty to all nine counts in December.
Rondeau faced up to 10 years in prison for healthcare fraud and 20 years for wire fraud. He ultimately received only one year and will have to pay restitution of $268,000.
The case against Rondeau was brought following an investigation by the FBI Springfield Field Office.
