A major property development firm in Florida is expanding its reach in the state through an acquisition of another development company in Southwest Florida.
NAI Burns Scalo announced this month it’s finalized an acquisition agreement with commercial real estate developer Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Property Southwest Florida in Fort Myers. Brian Walker, President of NAI, led efforts to broker the deal that will end with the transition of Cushman & Walker being folded into the NAI brand.
“Florida represents a key market in our strategic national growth, and this expansion reflects the strength of our fully integrated platform,” said Walker.
“By combining a strong local presence with our experience as investors and developers, we are well positioned to pursue new opportunities through both ground-up development and the acquisition of existing assets, while bringing capital and a long-term ownership perspective to the market.”
While Cushman & Walker is being acquired, key personnel with the company will be folded into NAI. Gary Tasman, the Founder of Cushman & Walker, will remain actively involved with the company when the acquisition is complete and will focus on strengthening client relationships and growth of the business in the region.
“This partnership represents an exciting new chapter for our company, our clients, and the Southwest Florida market,” Tasman said. “By aligning with NAI Burns Scalo and the broader NAI platform, we are combining deep local market expertise with expanded capital, development, and investment capabilities that enhance how we serve our clients.”
The acquisition of Cushman & Walker expands NAI’s presence on the Gulf Coast. The company opened an office in Tampa in March of 2025. The company also has continued its growth by added real estate leader Tim Rivers to oversee the expansion of NAI throughout Florida.
“NAI Burns Scalo provides an enhanced platform characterized by greater integration, diversification, and connectivity, along with a broader suite of services not previously available in the Southwest Florida market,” said Rivers, who is the Executive Managing Director-Florida at NAI Burns Scalo.
