Authorities are investigating shots being fired in a Jacksonville neighborhood early Sunday.
Police responded about 2:45 a.m. when people reported hearing gunshots around the 1000 block of North Clay Avenue.
Officers found evidence of a weapon being discharged, according to Lt. Sean Haefeli.
No injuries were reported, according to a police report.
The investigation is ongoing.
This was the third confirmed report of shots being fired in Jacksonville this year and the first since early January, according to a Journal-Courier database.
Police called about 6:30 a.m. Jan. 1 for a report of gunfire in the 700 block of South Main Street. Officers initially did not find anything, but a resident of the 100 block of West Chambers Street called at 8:46 a.m. after finding a shell outside the house and noticing damage to the residence.
Four days later, about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 5, police responded to the 300 block of West Beecher Avenue after people reported hearing gunshots. Officers confirmed multiple shots were fired into a house, but no injuries were reported.
