With the US national team winning their opening game of the World Cup 4-1 over the weekend, excitement about the tournament is building.

It’s no wonder then that the incredible digital display at the 700-foot-tall Paramount Miami Worldcenter Tower is focused on the beautiful game.

Footage captured by Bryan Glazer shows the display featuring a digital representation of a player doing some keepy uppies, flags from the qualified nations, and other graphics related to the 48-team competition.

Matthew Falcone, who is the chief operating officer of the Miami Worldcenter, said the digital display is, “composed of five miles of wires, connected to 13,400 light-emitting diodes, embedded in thousands of panes of glass. It took 12 technicians three years to design and install the lighting system, which can create 16 million color combinations.”

Despite all that, the nightly electric utility bill for all this is said to be about $34. Miami is hosting seven World Cup games in total.

The soccer “salute” will illuminate on the “mornings and nights before, and the mornings and nights of, the seven matches,” according to Falcone. Credit: World Satellite Television News/Bryan Glazer via Storyful
