Late last year, the WLRN reporter and producer released “Just Freedom,” a deep dive into Florida’s long history of voter suppression and brings readers up to speed as felons continue to fight for their rights to cast ballots despite voters passing Amendment 4 in 2018.
Deeply-reported, the work covers two decades and finds Rivero using court documents, meeting transcripts, interviews, videos and on-the-ground testimony to show how politics, money, and other challenges have delayed the fulfillment of a promise more than a million felons have been clinging to for nearly a decade.
Rivera will be at The Commodore in discussion with former Tampa Tribune Editor Tom Scherberger (former host of WMNF Tampa’s “Wavemakers” public affairs program).
