Those who love to dance have a new, easy-to-learn, hip-shaking routine to master, courtesy of Shakira and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Dai Dai,” or “Let’s go” in Italian, combines the Colombian superstar’s signature hip waves with rhythmic Afrobeat steps and hints of hip-hop, jazz and belly dance. Shakira, along with Nigerian singer Burna Boy, performed the fluid choreography at a World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico on June 11.
The Royal Peacock Dance Studio in Oakland Park has been teaching the routine to its students as part of its regular classes, which include hip-hop, jazz, ballet and Latin fusion. Studio owner and creative director Adam Anthony said the “Dai Dai” steps struck him as straightforward and in sync with the studio’s goals.
“The choreography is a nice blend of global and athletic references with a modern edge,” said Anthony, who opened the studio in 2021. “It is accessible for all levels in our opinion, which is important to our daily mission” of bringing dance to students with a range of abilities and fitness levels.
When instructor Adelicia Villagaray suggested teaching the routine to the studio’s dancers, Anthony thought it would be fun to jump on the trend. He said she studied videos to learn the intricate, pulsating footwork.

The song includes lyrics with the “Let’s go” exhortation in different languages — Spanish (“dale”), French (“allez”) and Japanese (“ikou”) — and celebrates participating World Cup countries and iconic soccer superstars of past and present, including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappé. The choreography includes lots of jumps, torso gyrations, high knees and arm waves.
Anthony said dancers who are interested in learning the choreography should reach out to the studio.
“We like to indulge in these trending dances,” he said.
