Disney has given us a first look at The Wetlands at Disney Lakeshore Lodge. This area of the resort will be the rest and relaxation spot, complete with a lazy river.

The Wetlands will be the sprawling outdoor recreation space at Disney Lakeshore Lodge. This area encompasses the beauty of the nature around it through its wetlands-inspired aesthetic. Each area was inspired by a different element of Disney storytelling. You will notice the call back to “the heron and the otter are my friends” from “Colors of the Wind” in the play area above.

Each of the areas will also have certain activities for guests of varying ages:

Heron Shores – hands-on play with climbing features

Otter Springs – interactive water features for young kids to splash and slide

Daydream River – the area’s lazy river

The pool area within The Wetlands is Lakeside Lagoon. It will be a zero-entry pool for guests of all ages. There will also be an area called Perspective Pond, which will house a leisure pool and whirlpool spa with views of the fireworks from Magic Kingdom.

First announced in 2018, the resort was originally going to be called Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, but plans were stalled during the COVID-19 pandemic. Years later, after the resort was thought to be canceled, Disney began filing permits.

The Disney Vacation Club resort was then officially announced in 2024 with a new name, Lakeshore Lodge. The resort will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.”

In April, we got our first look at new concept art for the resort and a narrower opening timeframe. Lakeshore Lodge is set to open sometime in the summer of 2027.
