The charges stem from an arrest warrant out of Hialeah.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Hillsborough County deputy has been arrested and charged with child molestation following an investigation in Hialeah.

Manuel Chaveco Delgado, 42, worked in Detention Services at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

According to an arrest affidavit from the Hialeah Police Department, Delgado was in a relationship with the teenage victim’s mother when the alleged crimes occurred.

Over the course of about two years, Delgado allegedly touched the victim inappropriately several times while she was between the ages of 13 and 15.

The victim said these incidents took place at a home in Hialeah and while in a car alone with Delgado. She also told police Delgado once showed her a picture of a penis on his phone.

Delgado was arrested on June 16 and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County. He is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child between the ages of 12 and 16, and showing obscure material to a minor.

HCSO said Delgado is currently suspended without pay.
