From grocery stores to banks, here’s what will be open and closed on Friday, June 19, across Tampa Bay.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Juneteenth is this Friday, June 19, an observance of the day the last enslaved people in the United States learned they were free. 

In 2021, it was enshrined as a federal holiday, meaning many businesses, banks, government offices and financial markets will be closed.

Is Publix open on Juneteenth?

Yes, Publix will be open on Juneteenth. 

Costco, Sam’s Club, Target, Aldi and Trader Joe’s will all be open on Juneteenth.


Is the post office open on Juneteenth?

No, the U.S. Postal Service offices will be closed on Juneteenth, meaning regular mail will not be delivered.

Priority Mail Express service will continue, as it does year-round, including on federal holidays. 


Are FedEx and UPS open on Juneteenth?

Yes, FedEx and UPS will continue operating as normal on Juneteenth.


Are banks open on Juneteenth?

Most major banks will be closed on Juneteenth, including Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Truist, Citibank and Capital One.


Is the stock market closed on Juneteenth?

Yes. U.S. stock markets, including the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, will be closed on Friday in observance of Juneteenth.
