TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Dozens of families in east Tallahassee received free hurricane preparedness buckets Saturday as community leaders worked to help residents prepare for the 2026 hurricane season.
The giveaway was organized by Victory House Community Resource Center, which distributed buckets filled with emergency supplies such as ponchos, batteries, flashlights and first aid items.

Victory House Community Resource Center President Lanorris McFadden said preparedness is critical for Floridians living in areas vulnerable to tropical storms and hurricanes.
“As we are in this wonderful state of Florida, we know that we are in hurricane impact zones and their potential, and we’ve got to do our due diligence to safeguard ourselves and our neighbors and our communities,” McFadden said.
Each bucket also included a checklist of recommended supplies that residents can add to their emergency kits as hurricane season progresses.
Residents who were unable to attend Saturday’s distribution will have another opportunity to receive a hurricane preparedness bucket. Victory House volunteers are scheduled to distribute additional buckets July 7-9.
